Business
founded in Beehive Lane, Ilford by Albert Benson Senior to
provide general engineering services to local industries
together with jig & tool making.
1939
- 45
Difficult
war years. Major damage to workshop by V1 flying bomb in 1944.
Our war effort included design of tooling for
manufacturers of aircraft compass parts.
1947
- 57
Post
war housing demand necessitated a move to new factory in
Chadwell Heath . Gradual expansion of workshop and capacity.
1958
- 65
Broadening
of customer base justified factory extension. Fabrication and
welding facilities increased. Major machine building projects
carried through successfully.
1965
- 85
Manufacture
of pressure vessels began. As confidence in our procedures
increased major orders for plant in many industries at home and
overseas were won.
1972
Take
over of Sedgwick manufacturers of plate folding machines and
ring rollers. This gave us a product line and more than doubled
our production capacity.
1973
- 78
Deep
involvement in the supply of cast steel pulverised fuel pipe
work for existing and new power stations.
1984
New
premises acquired in Dagenham enabling management of our two
companies to form Benson-Sedgwick Engineering combined
facilities much improved in all areas with better management
control.
1990
- Present
All
areas of production continue with sculptural metalwork becoming
more important.
Our
main assets continue to be our staff, their skills and our
flexibilty.
